AI literacy training

Building AI literacy in your team – calm, not panicked.

Companies that use AI are expected to promote the AI literacy of their staff. That sounds like an obligation – but above all, it is a good idea. Here is a short, honest overview of what applies and how to put it into practice pragmatically.

Short and honest

What the AI Act requires.

As of October 2026. Not legal advice – if in doubt, ask your legal advisor.

  • Since February 2, 2025Article 4 of the AI Act applies
Companies that provide or use AI systems must take care of their staff’s AI literacy.
  • Since July 27, 2026The “Digital Omnibus” softens the obligation
Companies must promote the AI literacy of their staff. They no longer have to guarantee a specific level of literacy for every single person.
  • What this means for youPromote, document, keep at it
Suitable training, simple ground rules and a short note of who took part and when. The AI Act does not require any specific certificate.

Why it pays off even without the legal paragraphs.

Fewer mistakes

People who know where AI gets things wrong check the results before they reach the customer.

Data stays safe

Clear rules on what may go into which tool protect customer and company data.

More value

A team that uses AI well saves noticeable time on routine work.

Less shadow AI

Open training brings the hidden use of private accounts into the light.

Questions about AI literacy

Does this also apply to small companies?

In principle, yes: Article 4 applies to everyone who provides or uses AI systems in a professional context. The effort depends on how and for what AI is used.

Do we need a certificate?

No, the AI Act does not require any specific certificate. It does make sense to record which measures you have taken.

Is an online course enough?

A general course is a start. Training with the tools and tasks your team actually uses brings more.
